Family Portrait ‘Qiu’

Following on the Root project, Vivian researched her family name Qiu’s oracle bone script and created little characters. This family portrait with quirky ‘Qiu’ characters expresses Vivian’s gratitude towards her family.

She coloured titanium with both bath anodising technique and heating technique. The child-like crayon aesthetic was created through scratching the titanium surface multiple times before and after anodising. Vivian left titanium pieces in multi-etch liquid for 4 days by accident, it brings matte finish and beautiful bright colours to the titanium.
